Wendy’s is walking back its snarky tweet insulting Katy Perry‘s Blue Origin space flight.
“We always bring a little spice to our socials,” the fast-food chain said in a statement to People on Thursday.
However, Wendy’s insisted it “has a ton of respect for Katy Perry and her out-of-this-world talent.”
The company went viral Monday after Perry, 40, and the rest of her flight crew — Lauren Sánchez, Gayle King, NASA aerospace engineer Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen and film producer Kerianne Flynn — landed safely in Texas after a 10-minute trip to space.
“Can we send her back,” Wendy’s asked via X of the “Firework” singer.
The brand also poked fun at a picture of Perry kissing the ground upon her return with a reference to her 2008 hit “I Kissed a Girl.”
Wendy’s wrote, “I kissed the ground and I liked it.”
Kesha, who has long been at odds with Perry over the “Teenage Dream” singer’s continued collaborations with accused rapist Dr. Luke, co-signed the shade.
After the tweets went viral, the “Tik Tok” singer, 38, shared a smiling selfie enjoying a drink in a Wendy’s cup.
While Perry has yet to directly address Wendy’s or Kesha’s disses, a source told Page Six exclusively Thursday that she felt stung by the “targeted hostility.”
The insider said the X posts were not examples of “harmless banter” or “humor.”
They added, “This was a billion-dollar brand using its platform to publicly demean a woman. … Wendy’s didn’t make a joke — they made a choice. Their recent posts were not only disrespectful but blatantly inappropriate.”
Many A-listers, including Jessica Chastain, Olivia Munn and Emily Ratajkowski, have expressed their distaste over Monday’s historic trip.
Jessica Alba, however, made headlines for defending the flight against “endless criticism.”
The actress, who has been friends with Sánchez for years, re-posted a statement calling for haters to “focus [their] anger toward fearlessly denouncing [President] Trump’s abuses of power.”
