Patrick Schwarzenegger revealed why he and fiancée Abby Champion are waiting to tie the knot.
During his appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show” Tuesday, the actor said the delay was due to his filming schedule for Season 3 of HBO’s “The White Lotus.”
“Finally a year and a half ago, we got engaged, and it was our moment. It was this great thing, and about a few days later, I booked ‘White Lotus,’” Schwarzenegger recalled.
“I was like, ‘Abby, I know we’re in this high of engagement, and we’re gonna get married this year, but we’re gonna have to push it. I got ‘White Lotus’ and I’m gonna go film for the next 7 months in Thailand.’”
The actor, who portrays Saxon Ratliff on the hit series, confirmed that Champion was still “so happy” despite having to postpone the ceremony.
“She was ecstatic because she’s a huge fan,” Schwarzenegger said.
Schwarzenegger, 31, and Champion, 28, announced their engagement via Instagram in December 2023 after dating for eight years.
The “Gen V” star confirmed to host Drew Barrymore that they will finally be walking down the aisle this summer.
In fact, the couple teased their upcoming nuptials last week in a stripped-down campaign for Skims’ Wedding Shop.
Champion — who has modeled for brands like Bottega Veneta, Miu Miu and Chanel — will soon be officially joining Schwarzenegger’s star-studded family.
The “Staircase” actor is the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, and his older sister Katherine Schwarzenegger married Chris Pratt in 2019.
Last month, the “Guardians of the Galaxy” star praised his brother-in-law’s performance in “The White Lotus.”
Since the show’s third season premiered on HBO in February, Patrick has addressed nepotism claims and his character’s viral nude scene and incestuous storyline.
