Andy Cohen cries on radio show over son Ben’s sweet comment

Andy Cohen is cherishing every moment with his kids.

The Bravo host became emotional while reflecting on his recent trip to Disney World with his son, Benjamin, 6, and daughter, Lucy, who turns 3 next week, during Monday’s episode of SiriusXM’s “Radio Andy.”

“First of all, it really was a once-in-a-lifetime week. It was so incredible as a parent being able to see it through their eyes,” he said. “It was just great. … It was just a really happy, happy week.”

Although Cohen questioned whether either of his kids will actually “remember” the trip as they get older, he broke down in tears while recalling a special moment with his eldest after they returned home.

“I just love these kids so much,” he said before launching into the story.

Cohen shared that Ben noticed an older kid around 13 years old during a trip to the playground.

“And I go, ‘That’s gonna be you. … One day you’re gonna be like, ‘Dude, I don’t want to hang out with you,’” he said, joking that his son would grow tired of hanging out with him as he got older.

“And he goes, ‘No, I’m not gonna do that,’” Cohen continued.

The “Watch What Happens Live” host started tearing up while reflecting on his son’s sweet comment.

“And he goes, ‘You know, Daddy, when I’m 60’ — oh, I’m gonna cry — he goes, ‘I wanna take a pill so I can come back and be little like this so I can just be with you.”

Cohen said he “thinks [Ben] was realizing” that he would not be around forever.

“I hate to end the show in tears, but … we had such a deep [talk] and had a long hug on the playground when he was, you know, thinking about that,” he concluded.

“It was a great week. Thank you for letting me share my Disney adventure with you. … I have tears all over my face from telling that story.”

Cohen was 50 when his son was born via surrogacy in 2019. He welcomed his daughter, who is Ben’s biological sibling, in 2022.

The producer previously said he “never thought it would be possible as a gay man to grow up and have a family,” which was always one of his biggest dreams.

In a 2023 interview with BFF Anderson Cooper, Cohen said he felt like being a dad was his true calling in life.

“Your mom loved that Peggy Lee song, ‘Is That All There Is?’ That’s where I was,” he told Cooper, referencing the late Gloria Vanderbilt. “I was approaching 50, and I heard that song in my head. I was like, ‘There’s gotta be a greater purpose for me. This is wonderful, and I absolutely love it. But there has to be a greater purpose.’”

Cohen said fulfilling that dream and becoming a parent “changed [him] in every way.”

“I think my priorities have completely shifted. I think my sense of accomplishment has totally changed,” he said. “And even just getting your kids breakfast and getting them out to school, when I drop him off at school, I’m like, ‘You did it, dude! That was a rough two and a half hours, you know?’”
