On Wednesday, Kate Middleton braved the rain for a visit to the Wellbeing Garden at Colchester Hospital, where she spoke about life after cancer treatment.

The Princess of Wales, 43, arrived in a business-casual striped look consisting of a sand-colored Blazé Milano pinstriped blazer ($1,665) layered atop a moss green Ralph Lauren Collection button-up ($690 $483).

On the jewelry front, the royal wore an Auree Jewellery necklace ($493) featuring a garnet, which is her January birthstone, and Cartier Trinity earrings ($1,800).

During the visit, Middleton said her cancer battle was a “really, really difficult” period of her life.

“You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment,” she shared.

“Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually [that’s not the case].”

Middleton added that though she’s “not necessarily under the clinical team any longer” she’s unable “to function normally at home as [she] perhaps once used to.”

“[Having] someone to help talk you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment … is really valuable,” the Princess of Wales explained.

“It’s a roller coaster, it’s not smooth, like you expect it to be,” Middleton noted. “But the reality is you go through hard times.”

Middleton finished her chemotherapy treatments last September and revealed she was in remission this past January.
